Beyond Jennifer and Jason is written by two authors dubbed the arbiters of hip by the Wall Street Journal. It is focused on finding names that haven't been used to death. Beyond will help you find some new streams of thought in picking your baby's name.
This book is no standard 70,000+ names book. It's actually fun to read since it spices plain lists up with psychology tips, sibling-names, and cultural information on names. There are tons of categories ranging from the interesting to (perhaps) useless.
Unfortuantely, there are a large number of names duplicated from list to list. While this may be excused since some names do fit mutiple categories, it can be annoying to see a name you've already considered over and over. Also, Beyond lacks some standard information such as name meanings (although this information is readily available online).
So if you're tired of the dictionary style books, Beyond Jennifer and Jason will be a great alternative. It will bring some fun back to the process of naming your child. Ideally, you may want to buy a large book and this book to help compensate for their relative weaknesses.
